Date: Sat, 23 Mar 2019 10:49:23 EDT

Summary: Flooding continues from recent rainfall and snowmelt in the Central Midwest (IA-IL-MO) area.

There are currently 43 streamgages in minor flood stage, 26 in moderate flood stage, and 4 in major flood stage for a total of 73 streamgages above flood stage. Today 4 Crews from CMWSC plan to measure the the Missouri River at the following locations: Rulo, Napoleon, Waverly, Parkville, and Kansas City. The peak passed through Rulo yesterday and appears to be moving through Atchison on its way to Leavenworth. Additionally, flood waters are slowly making their way down the Mississippi River with peaks expected to move through the rest of the weekend and into the early part of next week as the snow continues to melt up north.

USGS staff are staying in communication with the Corps of Engineers and the National Weather Service providing observation and measurement information.

A crew from Rolla is performing measurements at levee breaches along the Missouri River for the USACE Omaha district. They are expected to continue this work through the weekend.
