Summary: Eastern Nebraska flooding continues in the Elkhorn, Platte, and Big Blue Basins.
Yesterday the Nebraska WSC had three crews in the field, one crew from the IA WSC, one crew from the Nebraska DNR. 15 high flow measurements were made, and one gage repaired. Today four NE WSC crews were in the field and made about 12 more measurements. Flows are finally in recession at all Nebraska gages, but 12 streamgages remain in minor to moderate flooding. Three personnel worked daily through the weekend in the Lincoln and North Platte Field Offices entering measurements into Aquarius, helping guide field personnel through shutdown roadways, and taking calls from cooperators.
A team from the NE WSC has been activated to start flagging HWMs for indirect measurements. Nine indirects are needed, 6 are high priority. More calls will be made tomorrow to bring in another crew for indirects.
At least 30 communities and countless farms have been evacuated across Eastern Nebraska. Most roads and bridges were closed, and are now beginning to open up again.
There has been some contact with local media regarding this event. Data was shared with the NWS, RFC, USACE, and local cooperators via phone, email, and NWSChat.
