Summary: Warm, subtropical atmospheric river generating high flows throughout Northwestern and Southern Nevada
A strong atmospheric river is directing warm moisture to most of Nevada. High elevation rainfall is falling on deep snow-packs to generate high flows in northwestern Nevada while heavy rains are impacting southern Nevada. Later this afternoon in northwestern Nevada, snow levels are forecast to quickly fall from 8,000 ft to the valley floors at 4,500 ft to reduce flows.
Five crews have been deployed from the Carson City and Henderson field offices. Flows are not forecast to exceed NWS Flood Stages and are not expected to exceed period of record flows at any streamgages. All streamgages are operating and transmitting current flow information to the USGS Streamflow Current Conditions Table.
