PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (CA) Continued stormy conditions across California

Date: Mon, 04 Feb 2019 21:34:15 EST

Summary: The second and third in a series of storms will impact the state today and tomorrow.

After a brief respite on Sunday two more storm systems are set to sweep across California through Tuesday. Cyclonic flow and low level moisture sweeping in off the mid Pacific have created light to moderate flooding in several areas of the state. A winter storm warning remains in effect for Ventura and Los Angeles Counties through Wednesday morning. Rainfall, heavy at times, and significant winds and snow at higher elevations are associated with these fronts.

The CAWSC has mobilized 22 teams today (Monday) to make measurements at areas through out the state. Most flows are moderate compared to the peaks that we experienced on Saturday, but these recessionary measurements are of high quality as a result of the sustained flows at many sites. No record peaks are expected from these storms.

No gages damaged or destroyed at this time. There has been no new requests from our cooperators for measurements of flows resulting from these events.
