PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (FL) USGS -CFWSC Hurricane Michael response

Summary: USGS CFWSC staff respond to Hurricane Michael Storm Surge and flooding

USGS CFWSC staff (41 hydrographers) are in the field today flagging high water marks along the Gulf coast as a result of Hurricane Michael. Minor flooding is still occurring at 1 station, and near flooding is occurring at 7 stations in the affected area. USGS crews (4 hydrographers) are making 2 discharge measurement for today.

Fifty-two storm-tide and barometric pressure sensors have been recovered, and 262 high water marks have been flagged. Two storm-tide sensors and 1 barometric sensor were destroyed in the storm surge. One stream-gage was also destroyed. 12 discharge measurements have been made.

Data is currently being updated into the USGS Flood Event Viewer.
