Summary: USGS CFWSC staff respond to Hurricane Michael Storm Surge and flooding
USGS CFWSC staff (46 hydrographers) are in the field today recovering storm surge sensors, flagging high water marks, and making flood measurements along the Gulf coast as a result of Hurricane Michael. Minor flooding is still occurring at 1 station, and near flooding is occurring at 10 stations in the affected area. USGS crews are making one discharge measurement for today.
Forty-eight storm surge and barometric pressures sensors have been recovered, and 148 high water marks have been flagged. Two water-level sensors and 1 barometric sensor have been destroyed. One stream-gage was also destroyed. 10 discharge measurements have been made.
