Summary: USGS CFWSC staff respond to Hurricane Michael Storm Surge and flooding
USGS CFWSC staff (40 hydrographers) are in the field today recovering storm surge sensors, flagging high water marks, and making flood measurements along the Gulf coast as a result of Hurricane Michael. Minor flooding is occurring at 1 station, and near flooding is occurring at 10 stations in the affected area. USGS crews are making two discharge measurements for today.
Forty-two storm surge and barometric pressures sensors have been recovered, and 85 high water marks have been flagged. Data is currently being updated into the USGS Flood Event Viewer.
