PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (KS) Continued rainfall causing widespread flooding throughout Kansas.

Summary: Prolonged rainfall has accumulated to as many as 10 inches of rain over the past three days resulting in moderate flooding affecting much of central through eastern Kansas.

Twenty-four sites are currently at or above flood stage with many more locations forecast to rise above flood stage over the next 48 hours. Rainfall is expected to continue throughout today and tonight with forecast amounts of up to two inches falling on already saturated ground.

Impacted basins include the Ninnescah, Arkansas, Neosho, Marais Des Cygnes, Big Blue, and Missouri. Cities affected by the flooding include Kansas City, Wichita, and Emporia.

No streamgages have yet experienced a peak of record, no gages have been damaged or destroyed.

Nine crews are currently deployed to make flood measurements, collect samples, and perform preventative maintenance throughout central and eastern Kansas.
