PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (OK) Flooding in Western Oklahoma

Summary: A weekend event produced major flooding across western and north central Oklahoma.

Precipitation totals for this weekend event ranged from 2 to 8 inches over three days and it is currently raining. Yesterday areas have already received 3-7 inches on saturated soils and high rivers. Storms will continue to rain today causing large river flooding in the Cimarron, Canadian and North Canadian River basins.

The Cimarron, Canadian, and tributaries to the Red River river basins are currently in flood stages.

No streamgages have been damaged or destoryed yet.

Currently 5 USGS crews (10 individuals) are in the process of conducting flood measurements in Northwestern and North Central Oklahoma.
