Summary: Flood response in eastern and central Pennsylvania

More than 6 inches of rain fell over eastern and central Pennsylvania as a result of a slow moving front from August 11-14, 2018. Minor and moderate flooding was recorded at 10 streamgages. Most smaller streams have peaked and are receding, while the mainstem Susquehanna River is expected to peak later today through tomorrow.

USGS crews from the Downingtown, New Cumberland, and Williamsport offices have been responding to the flooding. Five USGS crews (9 staff members) have made 16 flood measurements, three of which were the highest ever directly measured. All USGS streamgages are operating.
