Summary: Flooding in south-central New York
Flooding is occurring in south central New York today as a result of 3-6 inches of rain during the past 24 hours. One USGS streamgage reached NWS moderate flood category and another reached NWS minor flood category in the Susquehanna R basin. In addition, one USGS streamgage reached NWS minor flood category in the Schoharie Cr basin. NWS Flash Flood Warnings remain in effect for several counties in south central New York through this afternoon.
A total of 5 USGS crews (8 staff members)from the Troy and Ithaca offices are making high-flow discharge measurements today for rating calibration. The approximate annual exceedence probability is 0.5 to 0.2 (2-5 yr flood). All USGS gages are operating.
