July 10th, Train Derailment in Marana, Arizona

A train derailment occurred in Marana, Arizona, on July 10, 2018. Runoff from a severe thunderstorm was flowing over the tracks at the time and may have contributed to the derailment. We are working with Pima County to collect high-water marks for the event around the derailment area. We will evaluate the contributing watersheds to see if indirect measurements can be used to estimate the magnitude and frequency of the event. The watershed is ungaged.
