Summary: Continued Response to Flooding in Western North Carolina and North Georgia.
Rainfall from Subtropical Storm Alberto continues to impact areas of Western North Carolina, and North Georgia.
The USGS South Atlantic Water Science continues to collect extreme high flow discharge measurement at over 13 stations across the two states. Three teams in Georgia have conducted 5 discharge measurements, 1 setting a new maximum discharge for the period of record, and another having the highest discharge measured in over 43 years. Three additional stations are being measured to either verify or extend the stage-discharge rating. One crew from the Charlotte, NC field office is continuing to support field activities in South Carolina and gage repairs near Asheville, NC. Three crews from the Asheville, NC field office continue to collect several high flow discharge measurements at multiple stations to further define the stage-discharge rating. Additionally, 3 continuous monitoring stations with minor damage have been repaired and data restored to NWISWeb.
