Summary: Ongoing heavy rainfall across Maryland , Delaware, and Washington, D.C. is causing elevated streamflows across the region.
Heavy rainfall in Frederick County over the past several days, combined with additional heavy rain falling in southern Maryland, Washington, D.C. and the central Eastern Shore of Maryland and Delaware is providing opportunities for rating confirmation and water-quality sampling at numerous stream locations. Today's rainfall is forecast to move from south to north over the Chesapeake Bay and both shores, possibly reaching the Baltimore metropolitan area by this afternoon. Measuring and sampling opportunities will continue to develop along the track of the precipitation.
Repairs to two gages on Little Catoctin Creek in Frederick County continue today. That effort, along with measurements and sample collection will be performed by 13 field crews including 27 staff members.
