Summary: Atmospheric river brings precipitation to northwestern Nevada resulting in minor to moderate flooding.
An atmospheric river has brought prolonged rainfall over the last two days (April 6 and 7) to the Sierra Nevada Range and northwestern Nevada. Flows in the Truckee and Carson River Basins continue to rise with minor to moderate flood warnings announced by the National Weather Service. Flows are unusually high for April, but peak of record flows are not expected at any gaging stations.
Four teams of two people are currently deployed to measure discharges at gages along the mainstems and tributaries of the Truckee and Carson River Basins.
The National Weather Service and local agencies/cooperators have been notified of the measurements in response to the elevated flows.
All gaging stations are properly operating with no damage resulting from this event.
