PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (IN) Ongoing flood in Indiana

Summary: Major category flooding continues in northern Indiana.

Major category flood conditions continue in the Kankakee and Tippecanoe River Basins. 6 gages have already exceeded or are forecast to exceed peak of record. The Wabash River is also now in moderate category flood and will be a focus for measurements later in the week.

The Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Water Science Center, Indianapolis office, has 3 crews (6 people) out today making discharge measurements throughout the impacted river basins. As of this alert, 49 special measurements of discharge have been made during this event. No gages are currently down within the impacted area. Contact with the National Weather Service, the US Army Corps of Engineers, and local cooperators are ongoing.
