PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (IN) Major category flooding in northern IN

Summary: Major category flooding ongoing in northern Indiana.

Major category flood conditions are occurring in the Kankakee, Iroquois, and Calumet River Basins as a slow moving front leaves the area. Two gages have already exceeded peak of record and are still climbing. Later this week, the Tippecanoe River Basin is also forecast to enter major category flooding.

The Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Water Science Center, Indianapolis office, has 5 crews (10 people) out today making discharge measurements throughout the impacted river basins. One gage is currently down within the area. Contact with the National Weather Service and the US Army Corps of Engineers is ongoing.
