Summary: Minor flooding is occurring in central Ohio.
A series of thunderstorms rolled through central Ohio yesterday afternoon and evening causing localized flooding in Columbus Ohio as well as the Kirkersville and Newark Ohio area. Radar estimated three to four inch amounts of rain fell in these areas. Runoff of the localized street flooding has now entered the South Fork Licking River basin as well as the Big Walnut River basin. Additionally, the Deer Creek basin just southwest of Columbus, Ohio also received three to four inch rain amounts.
Two USGS crews will be out measuring the minor flooding from this hydrologic event. Licking County as well as the City of Newark, Ohio and the City of Columbus, Ohio and the Huntington West Virginia Corps of Engineers has been notified of our actions.
