Summary: Lower White River flows categorized as major by NWS.
The crest of the White River is nearing the Augusta area in the delta of Arkansas.
We currently have three crews (10 technicians) out today. One is measuring the White at Augusta. The second is measuring the Black River verifying backwater. Stations in the Southern part of the state that are slower to rise are being measured by the third.
Most stations that were damaged or destroyed by high flows will be back on line today.
We will continue to follow the White River crest and make measurements on the recession of the Black River through next week.
