Summary: Minor to Moderate Flooding in Ohio
A slow moving low pressure that has tormented the Mississippi Valley will move into Ohio today. Widespread 2 inch rain amounts have fallen on saturated soils particularly in northwest Ohio.
The main river basis that will be affected today will be the Maumee, Sandusky, Portage, upper Muskingum, Cuyahoga and Auglaize where minor flooding is expected and the Tiffin and Blanchard River basis where moderate flooding is expected.
Nearly 15 river gages will be at or above flood stage today throughout Ohio.
Four crews of two people each will be making high water measurements today. One crew will be measuring sites in the Portage and Tiffin river basins, while another crew will be measuring sites in the Blanchard and Auglaize river basins. Two other crews will be in the Cleveland area measuring high water in the upper Muskingum and Cuyahoga river basins. It is anticipated two crews will be working Saturday to make high flow measurements in the Maumee river basin and one crew will be working Sunday to capture any high flows not previously obtained.
Contact has been made with the National Weather Service Cleveland, National Weather Service northern Indiana and the Buffalo Corps of Engineers. High flow measurements will be entered in NWS Chat.
