PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (IL) Continued flooding in IL

Date: Wed, 03 May 2017 15:01:07 EDT

Summary: State of Illinois is still experiencing flooding from the 2-7 inches of rain that fell April 28-30

Approximately 33 streamgages in Illinois are at or above NWS floodstage. The headwater sites generally have peaked and are back down. Still have 18 gages in Minor flooding, 12 in Moderate, and 3 in Major flooding categories. Generally the Moderate and Major flooding is at the downstream-most streamgages of the largest basins-- particularly the Illinois, Big Muddy and Kaskaskia basins. All USGS streamgages in the flooded areas appear to be functioning properly.

About 8 USGS crews generally consisting of two people each are out making discharge measurements and making sure gages are operating.

2 crews are also taking QW samples at Illinois Superstations.

All communications are going through NWSChat- all measurements being reported there and significant interaction with the National Weather Service, US Army Corps, and others.
