PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (AR) Arkansas Flooding

Summary: Heavy rains in Northwest Arkansas.

Precipitation along the Arkansas/Oklahoma border has exceeded 5 inches in the last 12 hours. Rain is forecasted to last through Sunday for the entire state.

The Arkansas, Illinois, Buffalo, Kings and White river basins are primarily affected during the event.

No streamgages have been damaged or destroyed yet.

Currently 5 USGS crews from Little Rock, Fayetteville, and Baton Rouge (11 individuals) are in the process of measuring discharges in Northwest and Western Arkansas. Crews from Ruston,LA are assisting in Southwest Arkansas and the Memphis office is on standby with additional help if needed. Tomorrow additional crews will be mobilized to measure flow and collect water quality storm samples in Central, Northeast and North Central Arkansas.
