PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (OK) Flooding in Oklahoma

Summary: A weekend event will produce major flooding in Oklahoma.

Precipitation totals for this event will range from 3 to 6 inches over two days. Yesterday areas have already received 3 inches on saturated soils and high rivers. Storms will continue to produce rain today causing large river flooding in the Illinois and Arkansas River basins tomorrow.

The Illinois, Spavinaw, and Elk river basins are currently in flood stages.

No streamgages have been damaged or destroyed yet.

Currently 4 USGS crews (8 individuals) are in the process of conducting flood measurements in Northeastern Oklahoma. Tomorrow 7 crews (14 individuals) will be measuring and collection high-flow samples across Oklahoma.
