PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (OH) Moderate flooding in Ohio

Date: Wed, 01 Mar 2017 16:24:41 EST

Summary: Minor to Moderate flooding in Ohio

During the early morning hours of 1 March, 2017, the southern half of Ohio was hit with widespread 3 to 5 inches of rain over a six to eight hour period as a vigorous frontal system pushed through the area. Southwestern Ohio (the Cincinnati area) was hit the worst.

The Little Miami River basin was hardest hit. Early indications are that the Little Miami River at Milford received a one in five to ten year event. One crew is making high flow measurements in the Cincinnati area, including the Little Miami River at Milford, today.

Another crew is measuring sites in the Paint Creek river basin in south central Ohio. The Paint Creek at Chillicothe, Ohio is expected to crest at 21.50 ft. The crew is expected to make the measurement on the peak, making it the fourth highest measurement in 32 years of record.
