Summary: Flooding is occurring in Central Arizona in response to moderate to heavy rainfall beginning on Monday and finishing up today.

Summary of event impact:

Flooding is occurring in Central Arizona in response to moderate to heavy rainfall beginning on Monday and finishing up today.

Maricopa County in central Arizona is under flood warning. With winter storm warnings issued for higher elevation areas in northern and eastern parts of the state. Light to moderate precipitation continues in northern and eastern parts of the state through the day. Currently, streamflow is elevated at numerous gages across the state, with many of those sites exceeding flood stage.

The Arizona Water Science Center (AZWSC) has 8 crews responding to this event today from the following service areas: Flagstaff, AZ (8) and Tempe, AZ (4). The crews are performing high flow measurements, service repairs, and maintenance today.

Additional AZWSC crews are planned to deploy tomorrow. No safety issues have occurred during this series of storms and all staff have followed USGS field reporting and safety protocols. Updates will continue to be provided during the course of this event.
