PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (CA) Flooding expected for CA this week as ARs bring more rain

Summary: Flooding is expected this week as multiple atmospheric rivers bring rainfall and snow to parts of California.

A series of warm storm systems are expected to bring precipitation to California over the next two weeks. Today, much of California is experiencing light to moderate rainfall. Counties in central and northern California are under flood warning or flash flood watch. Many northern California rivers are above flood or monitor stage, with peak flows expected late tonight and again on Thursday.

The California Water Science Center (CAWSC) has 12 crews responding to this event today from the following service areas: Eureka, CA (1); Redding, CA (2); Ukiah, CA (3); Sacramento, CA (1); Truckee (1); and Santa Cruz, CA (4). Crews are performing high-water measurements and collecting sediment. More crews are preparing to deploy tomorrow for recessional measurements.
