Summary: A winter storm system will continue to bring light but steady rainfall to parts of southern California through this evening.
Rivers and streams in southern California are responding to this event, with peak flows expected this morning and afternoon. As many as 25 streamgage locations are experiencing elevated flows (greater than 95 percentile), or are expected to exceed flood monitor stage (11023000) on Saturday. Today, the California Water Science Center has deployed 3 crews in the Poway, CA service area and 1 crew in the Redlands, CA service areas for high-water measurements and sediment sampling. Crews at site 11044300 made the highest measurement of record.
Streamgages 11048200 and 11451100 have equipment failure related to this storm system; damages at these locations will be assessed next week. No safety issues have occurred and no crews will be deployed tomorrow on Christmas Day.
