Summary: A mild storm system continues bring rain and heavy snowfall to parts of Northern California today, with another storm system expected to arrive in California on Tuesday.
Today’s storm is expected bring moderate rain to northern and north coastal areas, with heavier precipitation and snow expected over the northern Sierra and foothills. Currently, rivers and streams in northern California are responding to precipitation and are expected to peak later today; however, only the Truckee River at Truckee (10338000) is predicted to exceed flood stage.
The USGS California Water Science Center has a total of 6 field crews deployed today in the Eureka, Ukiah, and Truckee service areas. Field crew activities include high water measurements, sediment sampling, and measurements for rating verification. There are no current plans to deploy field crews on Sunday, but staff are on standby.
