    <h1>PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (VA) The USGS VA/WV Water Science Center has deployed storm surge sensors along the Virginia coast in preparation for Hurricane Matthew</h1>

    <p>Summary: The USGS VA/WV Water Science Center has deployed 5 Rapid Deployment Gages (RDGs) and 6 storm surge sensors starting on the Eastern Shore and Hampton Roads areas of Virginia.</p>
    <p>Deployment activities have concluded in Virginia as of Thursday, October 6, 2016. Field crews are returning from the field and are not expected to return for retrieval of sensors until the end of next week at the earliest.

All sensors have been deployed in the STN and data are available through the Flood Event Viewer (<a href="http://water.usgs.gov/floods/FEV/)">http://water.usgs.gov/floods/FEV/)</a> and NWISweb.
