Summary: Storm Surge Sensor deployment and flood measurements
Tropical storm Hermine is expected to make landfall around 2 am Friday morning (September 2) in the Big Bend area of Florida south of Tallahassee. Feeder bands of rain showers have caused over 13 inches of rainfall at USGS rain gages in Pinellas county Florida. USGS staff from the Tampa office are responding to today making moderate to high flood measurements at west-Central Florida stream gaging stations. Staff from the Orlando and Tallahassee offices are deploying storm surge sensors along the Gulf Coast between Apalachicola and Cedar Key.
