    <p>Summary: Heavy rains continue to track across southern IL causing localized major flooding throughout the area.</p>
    <p>Heavy rains continue to track across southern IL causing localized major flooding throughout the area. Rainfall totals have exceeded 9" in a few areas with 1-2" still possible today as the slow moving storm continues its track. The heaviest rains fell around Mt Vernon, IL. The Mt Vernon Field Office has dispatched 4 field staff to manage the flood response. Field crews are battling flooded roadways across the area. Contact has been made with the National Weather Service, River Forecast Center, and local cooperators to give streamgage status updates as well as coordinate field response.</p>
