PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (CA) El Nino storms return to CA (continued)

Date: Mon, 14 Mar 2016 15:37:39 EDT

Summary: Elevated streamflow conditions persist as El Nino storms move out of CA.

Many streams in Northern California are experiencing elevated streamflow in response to storms that brought several inches of precipitation to the region over the weekend. Although no significant river flooding occurred from this event, several Northern CA rivers are above monitor stage.

Today, the USGS California Water Science Center has deployed a total of 12 crews from the Ukiah, Eureka, Redding, and Sacramento service areas for measurement of high-water or recessional flow that followed peak-discharge. Several crews may be deployed tomorrow as rivers continue to respond to this event. No equipment damage or data-transmission issues have been reported as a result of this event. Field offices are in contact with Federal, State, and local water resource management agencies.
