Summary: El Nino storms are bringing precipitation to much of CA today with additional rain/snow expected for Northern CA over the weekend.
Many parts of California are expected to receive moderate rainfall today and into the weekend, with the majority of rainfall (several inches) occurring in Northern CA. Snow accumulations of 2 feet or more are expected at higher elevations. Although no significant river flooding is expected by the National Weather Service, there is potential for localized flooding and an increased risk for mudflows and slope failures.
The CAWSC has deployed 6 teams from the Redding and Ukiah service areas for high-water measurements today. Several crews may also be deployed tomorrow as rivers continue to rise in response to this event. No equipment damage or data transmission issues have been reported as a result of this event. Field offices are in contact with Federal, State, and local water resource management agencies.
