Summary: Heavy rains over the past 24 hours causing extensive flooding in Mississippi
Heavy overnight rains over most of the southwest part of Mississippi have caused streams to rise rapidly and many are already above flood stage, with more rain coming.
Streams in the Leaf, Bouie, Okatoma, Pearl, Homochitto, Tangipahoa, Bogue Chitto, Amite, and Black Creek basins received up to 10 inches of rain.
Currently four crews are out making discharge measurements on streams with smaller drainage areas, the larger rivers are expedited to keep rising into the weekend.
Additional staff are being deployed to flag high water marks at ungaged sites as soon as the rains let up.
