Summary: Widespread rainfall in Central and Southern Arkansas
Central and Southern Arkansas has received rainfall over the past 48 hours, with widespread amounts of 4 to 9 plus inches. Rainfall is set to continue through the weekend.
Currently, no gages have been damaged but we are removing equipment from one site due to imminent flooding. Over the past 48 hours, 6 field crews have made 17 discharge measurements and have taken 15 storm samples. Today 5 crews are out measuring sites mainly in Southern Arkansas and one sampling crew is out in Central Arkansas.
Significant flooding has occurred in Southern Arkansas. Schools and businesses have been cancelled for the day due to the roads being impassible. Road closures are creating difficulty accessing our sites. With the expected rainfall measurements and samples will continue throughout the weekend.
