Summary: USGS crews from the South Atlantic Water Science Center continue to respond to flooding in Georgia
Crews from the USGS South Atlantic Water Science Center (SAWSC) continue to respond to flood waters in Georgia caused by recent significant rainfall. The Coosawattee River near Carters Lake is very high due to ongoing efforts by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to return the flood control reservoir to normal pool levels. The SAWSC Norcross office has four 2-person teams deployed along the Coosawattee river and its tributaries measuring the high flow conditions.
Another 2-person team from the Norcross office is deployed in the upper Savannah River Basin and a sixth team is deployed to the Peachtree City area to measure high flows in Fayette County.
The SAWSC-Tifton Field Office has a 2-person crew deployed to fix a gage on the Middle Chattahoochee, and a 1-person crew repairing a gage on the Altamaha River at Baxley.
