Summary: Minor to major flooding continues in the Florida panhandle due to heavy rains over the weekend in Alabama and Georgia.
Minor to major flooding continues in the Escambia, Yellow, Choctawhatchee, and Apalachicola River basins located in the Florida panhandle. NOAA Southeast River Forecast Center (SERFC) predicts that the Escambia River near Century (02375500) and will peak late tomorrow to early Thursday, the Choctawhatchee River near Caryville (0236550) will peak later today, and that the Choctawhatchee River near Bruce, FL (02366500), listed in major flood condition by the SERFC, will peak on Thursday. The Apalachicola River near Blountstown (02358700) is predicted to peak today, and the Yellow River is in recession.
Four crews (3 staff from Tallahassee and 4 staff from Tampa) are in the area making measurements this week. Yesterday, three stations (0235800, 02365200, 02369600) were measured. The index velocity sensor at Yellow River nr Milton (02369600) is not repairable at this time and additional measurements will be made to aid in estimating the flow.
