Heavy rains over the weekend in Alabama and Georgia have resulted in flood runoff and releases towards the Gulf Coast of Florida. Major flooding is predicted by the NOAA Southeast River Forecast Center (SERFC) at Choctawhatchee River near Bruce, FL (02366500) for Wednesday morning. Stations on the Apalachicola River are peaking this morning in moderate flood stage. The Yellow River at Milligan (0236800) peaked yesterday with minor flooding. Yellow River near Milton (02369600) is still rising and is expected to peak on Tuesday or Wednesday. The Escambia River at Century is predicted(SERFC) to peak on Wednesday or Thursday.
Four crews (3 staff from Tallahassee and 4 staff from Tampa) are enroot to measure these stations today through Wednesday.
Two stations are not working properly and are being inspected for repairs today.
