Summary: Intense and persistent rainfall has been continuing over the lower half of the state of Missouri.
Rainfall totals from 4-7 inches are expected from Springfield Missouri trending northeast to the City of St. Louis over the next few days. The National Weather Service has identified this event with potential record flooding, more specific to smaller rivers and streams.
The White, Meramec, Gasconade, and St. Louis county small urban basins are targeted for flooding.
Currently over 20 St. Louis county urban gages are above flood stage, of which 6 have exceeded period of record.
One USGS crew has been deployed to address new stage-discharge relations in the urban network.
More flooding is anticipated Sunday and Monday 12/27-12/28, USGS crews are on standby to be deployed as early as tomorrow morning.
