Summary: USGS Iowa Water Science crews continue to respond to flooding in Iowa at several locations above the National Weather Service Flood Stage.
Moderate flooding is occurring in Iowa statewide. The USGS Iowa Water Science Center (WSC) has deployed 8 field staff to support high water data collection. In addition, 2 office staff are supporting the flood response. Numerous contacts have been made with the National Weather Service (NWS) and US Army Corps of Engineers, primary in . These contacts were primarily to give streamgage status updates and results from discharge measurements. 34 additional streamflow measurements have been made in Iowa since the heavy rains fell in Iowa on December 12 and 13. 21 streamgages operated by the Iowa WSC are currently above the NWS Flood Stage.
