Summary: Widespread rainfall from this past weekend that fell across northern Texas has resulted in elevated flows throughout the upper and middle-Trinity River and its tributaries.
Rainfall as a result of a slow moving upper level system and the remnants of Hurricane Patricia fall across much of the state of Texas during the period Oct 23 to Oct 26. In particular, rainfall amounts of 10 to 15 inches fell in the upper Trinity River basin, which has results in elevated flows moving downstream.
Main-stem Trinity River flows are being augmented by tributary inflows as the flood moves toward the Gulf Coast. Earlier today, 104,000 cfs was measured at USGS station 08065000 - Trinity Rv nr Oakwood, TX. Additional measurements are planned for later in the week as the peak moves downstream.
No streamgages have been damaged or destroyed by the event, and only one peak of record has been recorded. Information is being provided to partner agencies, including the Corps of Engineers, the Trinity River Authority, and the National Weather Service.
