Summary: New Jersey Water Science Center continues to respond to the effects of Hurricane Joaquin
The USGS NJ Water Science Center has dispatched 3 field staff to support SCoRR sampling efforts in the northeast. One field crew (NJ/CO personnel) were deployed to the Virginia Beach area. A second NJ field crew was deployed to eastern PA and MD. No personnel were deployed today for SWaTH or inland flooding in NJ. Two field staff were in the office this morning supporting the storm response.
In total, 9 USGS states are responding to this event. Within NJ, one, rapidly-deployable surge gage and 20 storm-tide water level sensors have been deployed to record storm conditions. As of today, 0 high-water marks have been flagged with 0 surveyed into the elevations. 0 water quality samples have been collected in NJ. Numerous contacts have been made with USGS and NWS storm-response officials, as well as local emergency management officials. These contacts were primarily to give instrumentation status updates and report staff safety status. 0 additional streamflow measurements have been made at the surface-water gages in New Jersey. 0 streamgages have exceeded period of record highs.
