Summary: A strong storm system moving through Southcentral Alaska has caused streams to rise sharply, flooding low lying areas.
Heavy rain in the Anchorage and Matanuska Susitna Borough has caused minor flooding. Streams are expected to crest today and then quickly recede as a cold front moves into the area.
The Alaska Science Center has sent out 3 crews (6 people) to make discharge measurements at 9 sites. All gages are working properly at this time. Recurrence intervals for the measured flows range from 2-5 year to 10-25 year.
