Summary: Following deadly flooding in eastern Kentucky earlier this week, the IN-KY WSC is currently flagging high water marks in the hardest hit area.
Earlier this week, flash flooding in eastern Kentucky caused extensive property damage along with four confirmed deaths. Several other individuals are still reported missing and a state of emergency has been declared by the Governor.
The IN-KY Williamsburg office was out flagging high water marks yesterday in the hardest hit area from Flatgap to Volga and are continuing with that work today. This is an area where no streamgages are located so collecting these marks will be critical to future damage assessment and analysis. Contact has been made with the regional FEMA office and the KY state emergency management director.
