Summary: Record breaking May rainfall continues to flood many parts of Oklahoma.
Major flooding is occurring across Oklahoma. The monthly totals for May in some places have exceeded 16 inches, with most of the state experiencing a monthly rainfall record. Several gages have reached peak of record (5-7 sites). Two lakes have exceeded their surcharge pools. The office has dispatched 5 field crews consisting of 14 individuals. Numerous contacts have been made with local cooperators as well as federal cooperators, National Weather Service (NWS), River Forecast Center (ABRFC), and the Corps of Engineers (USACE). We are currently working closely with the Corps with reservoir operations. We are currently assessing the possibility of indirect measurements. The smaller streams are beginning to recede, while the larger streams are still rising.
