Summary: Weekend rains result in major to moderate flooding on the Powder River and tributaries. Crews out today verifying ratings.
Flooding is occurring in the Powder River basin in northeastern Wyoming. At this time, most of the flooding is moderate with streamflows receding. The most significant flooding is on the Powder River near Sussex Wyoming. Two crews are making measurements, verifying ratings, and establishing new ratings. One office staff is entering data and recomputing records. Local NWS WFO and Missouri Basin RFC hydrologists have been contacted and measurement data provided.
