Summary: USGS Kansas Water Science Center currently (May 24 at 1130 a.m.) has 7 field crews out measuring and sampling flood waters in eastern and south-central Kansas.
USGS Kansas Water Science Center currently (May 24 at 1130 a.m.) has 7 field crews out measuring and sampling flood waters in eastern and south-central Kansas. Thirteen streamflow gaging stations are above flood stage. Much of south-central and eastern Kansas received 2 to 5 inches of precipitation on Saturday through Sunday morning. Additional rain and flooding is forecast through Monday. Rivers with flooding include the Ninnescah, Chikaskia, and Arkansas River near Arkansas City, Kansas in southern Kansas, and Wakarusa River, Neosho River from near Emporia through Oklahoma and Marias des Cygne and tributaries in eastern Kansas.
