PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (OK) Oklahoma Flooding

Summary: Continued flooding experienced in Central/Southern Oklahoma.

During the past 72hrs, rainfall amounts varying from 4 to 12-inches have fallen throughout much of central and southern Oklahoma. Strong spring storms have delivered large amount of localized rains and also produced tornadoes. There is more rain predicted for today and tomorrow in areas where the ground is saturated and the rivers are full.

Several sites (>10) have experienced peaks that have exceeded National Weather Service flood alert levels, flooding has caused damage around the state. No streamgages have been destroyed, but several instruments have been repaired or replaced.

Yesterday approximately 5 crews consisting of 10 individuals were deployed and made 9 discharge measurements at 8 sites. More measurements and high flow samples will be made and collected today in central and southern Oklahoma. Three crews consisting of 6 individuals will be in the field today. No indirect measurements needed as of today. Communication with stakeholders and cooperators has been ongoing.
