PROJECT ALERT NOTICE (NE) Flooding in Nebraska

Summary: Moderate to major flooding in Southeast Nebraska

During the past 24 hrs, rainfall amounts in the 6 - 7 inch range, with localized amounts of up to 9 inches have occurred in southeast Nebraska.

Twelve gaging stations are currently above the National Weather Service (NWS) flood stage. Several stations are record or near record peaks.

Four field crews, comprising 8 staff, are currently deployed making flow measurements in the affected area. So far five flow measurement's have been made. There is flow over roads at several locations requiring field crews to make extra flow measurements at several sites.

Current field staff will be deployed tomorrow and into the weekend if needed. High water marks are being flagged so Indirect flow measurements can be made at several locations.

Communications are on going through NWS chat and phone calls with the NWS, the Army Corps of Engineers, cooperators and other stakeholders. stakeholders is ongoing.
