Summary: Crews Monitor Elevated Streamflow and Flooding in Storm-Affected Areas of Northern California
A strong storm system brought high winds and heavy rainfall to much of northern California today, with rainfall continuing tomorrow at lower elevations and heavy snow accumulations expected in the Sierra Nevada. Power outages have occurred and the National Weather Service has issued flash flood warnings for many counties, including coastal areas.
Field crews from the USGS California Water Science Center have been deployed to monitor locations with elevated streamflow and make direct flood measurements to verify peak stages. Monitoring will continue over the next several days.
Updates will be made as this storm develops.
